The cap at the top appears to be painted zinc and is threaded at the top to accommodate a rod or arm for hanging. The socket has its original porcelain insulator. Looks great with a nice light bulb in it. Contrasting black enamel border around rim.
**About the wiring--while the crusty old wiring has been removed, what I have in now is temporary, non-polarized wiring and should be replaced before mounting and using the fixture. Please do not burn down your house.
Measures 14 1/2 inches diameter, about 9 inches high from bottom rim to top of cap.
Overall condition is good. There is an area of loss to the enamel at the rim (about 1 inch on the exterior, 1/2 inch on the same spot on the interior), with radiating cracks. One side of the top surface of the lamp has a group of what appear to be tiny pock marks to the enamel where something hit it. Other minor wear throughout. Paint on metal cap is flaking.
