I love all things miniature, so was fascinated with these pill boxes when I was young. Now I’m fascinated by the idea that people would keep pills! In boxes! And not in the medicine cabinet! But it was the 60’s, what can you do…?! You could also keep rings, baby teeth, or other small special objects in them. Or just use them as decoration!

Lately I’ve been bitten by the idea of putting different things on top of these plain boxes, and this is one of my flower experiments.

This is a set of all three boxes.

These were glazed with a food-safe glaze and would be safe to store food in, could you find food small enough. (Oh, come on! That was funny!)

I learned ceramics like an old-school apprentice, at the feet of my grandmother who had a studio in the 1950s and 1960s, and many of the pieces I make are from now-vintage molds that she bought then. My pieces are unique, hand painted, and proudly made in my own home studio. I poured these using two vintage molds that my grandmother purchased new; the pill boxes are a Duncan mold from 1960 and the flowers are a Holland mold from 1962.
