I have been wanting to somehow incorporate Clarissa Hulse's beautiful fabric into my jewellery for some time now. This was the perfect project to show it off.
The design started when I began thinking about creating a transparent locket. This led to the vintage styling of the pendant. The sheerness of the silk organza means that it beautifully layers up with the roses image.
The back plate is made from recycled sterling silver. This gives it a fabulous texture and really adds to the vintage feel. The text reads 'A stitch in time saves nine one two three four five six seven eight'.
The sterling silver 'locket' measures 1 and 3/4 inches (4.5cm) by 1 inch (2.5cm). It is strung on A solid sterling silver 17 inch chain (43cm).
The paper image is protected by a layer of plexiglas (perspex) and will withstand a light rainstorm - but I don't recommend fully immersing the necklace in water. Although, I have put one of mine through the washing machine (by accident) and it was actually ok, but I advise against it.
The back of the 'locket' is marked with my makers mark which is registered with the Assay Office in London. It is your guarantee of quality and authorship.
I will send the 'locket' out uninsured to keep postage costs down. Please let me know if you would like a quote for insured postage.
It comes gift wrapped in a black box - ready to give as a present to yourself or someone else.
It has been designed and entirely hand crafted by me, in my workshop, at the foot of the wolds here in Yorkshire.
