The Salamander King stands approximately 7 cm tall (2.75 inches) and is made of wool and cotton. His face is embroidered simply in the Waldorf tradition to encourage open creativity. He is appropriate for display, storytelling, and gentle play. This doll should be kept out of reach from pets and children who still put toys in their mouths (small parts may be a choking hazard). The base of the doll is signed in thread with an “A.”
Despite the Salamander King's love of fire, please keep him away from open flames. Elementals are often thought of as fairies, so if you need a fire fairy song, visit this link on my A Storytelling of Crows blog: http://astorytellingofcrows.blogspot.com/2009/12/fire-fairy-song.html.

*The legend of the fire-resistant salamander may be inspired by the species that hibernate on logs. When people threw logs on the fire, the salamanders woke up and fled the flames.
