The poppy blossoms are depicted in various stages of bloom, each flower having been shaped individually with translucent red organza petals on a base of the softest white merino wool. Streaks of shining tencel fibers (made from wood pulp cellulose) run in rivulets across the blooms and each jet black center is embellished with free-form bead embroidery.
The organza petals have been felted into the wool using a process called nunofelting: when wool and a thin fabric are overlaid and exposed to warm, soapy water and friction (rubbing), they fuse together to form a durable fiber. Clusters of flowers were then arranged and sewn together to form the collar. You will love how lightweight, soft, and comfortable this piece is to wear!
