Nest of Felted Spheres

This work is a collaboration. A little bird helped me. Really. The spheres were hand-felted from small bits of yarn. I then needle felted the spiral overlay pattern. They are pretty to look at, but can also be used as loofahs, pincushions, or, yes, just as balls.

The answer to the question of how to package the spheres beautifully was found in the middle of a trail at our feet. A discarded bird's nest. What could be a more perfect repurprosed piece than one of nature's own artifacts.

Overall Measurements Approx 7" wide by 5" tall.
The Smallest Sphere is Approx 1.25" diam. The Largest, Approx 2" diam.
