DETAILS of REFINEMENT
Skillful attention to detail and commitment to sustainability are what separate our cutting boards from the rest. All of our Footed Plattes receive the same painstaking handwork as our highest-end custom made furniture. Each goes through several stages of refinement to create the overall form and function of a sculptural, "rustico moderno" object that is so much more than just a cutting board. Every Footed Platte receives several hand-rubbings of organic olive oil to ensure a smooth, professional surface. The wood is carefully selected and shaped to highlight spectacular grain, knots, wormholes, and the "noble rot" of spalted wood. Finally, the "Foote," adds functionality, but also a level of deft design that brings the cutting board into the realm of art.
ABOUT OUR PRODUCTS
All of our products are one-of-a-kind and handmade in our small studio in Woodstock, NY. We use only locally and sustainably harvested or salvaged American hardwoods, and natural, organic, food safe finishes. The hardwoods we choose contain beautiful, naturally occurring figurations that add to the unique loveliness of each piece.
