Yvaine is an unapologetically glamorous and sumptuous piece. Hundreds of naturally occurring saltwater keishi pearls and finger pearls have been hand linked together creating a shimmering and satiny chain. The asymmetrical centerpiece is a very large and very rare AAA Sea of Cortez* rainbow mabe pearl. The nacre is has a satiny finish with a deep luster which is completely natural and untreated. Interspersed within are natural Tahitian keishi pearls in a silvery gray and charcoal hue and off-round pale pistachio akoya saltwater pearls. I've added a few "dots" of glowing purple-yellow natural gem-grade Australian opals which burn brightly when in the sun (but are terribly difficult to photograph). The bulk of the piece is comprised of bright silver and scattered within are flecks of matte charcoal sterling. A hand-hammered clasp of solid 18k yellow gold closes the piece. A true one of a kind gem perfect for any collector of pearls.
Specifics:

☛ About the Sea of Cortez pearls:
The worlds's first pearl farm, even before any in Japan, was in La Paz, Mexico on the Sea of Cortez (Baja Gulf). Today a farm in Guaymas produces mainly mabe pearls (full pearls are even more rare). The rainbow lipped oyster (Pteria sterna) is cultured in the Sea of Cortez, Mexico. It is the only place in the world where this species thrives; this smaller variety of ouster produces the most colorful array of rainbow pearls in the world, even more so than the Tahitian pearl, and is never bleached or dyed.
☛ Did you know that pearls are the traditional gift for the 30th Wedding Anniversary (and modern gift for the 12th)? It is also the birthstone for June.
