Each handmade paper butterfly comes with flower seeds embedded inside. Instead of throwing them away and creating waste, they can be planted to grow.
These make very cheerful and useful place cards, wedding favors or additions to table settings. Perched on the rims of wine glasses or champagne flutes, these eye-catching, imaginative butterflies make for great conversation-starters.

Seeds are fresh and hand-gathered for planting in 2012 through 2013. Seeds included in the paper are listed in the materials section below. They are a mix of annuals, for first year color, and perennials for blooms in the years to follow.
PLANTING NOTE:
This paper really does grow! You can see the sprouts growing right out of the paper in the photos at the right. Planting instructions are included. You'll need to let me know if you need a separate set of planting instructions for each butterfly. Individual instructions cards to go with each butterfly are 24 cents each. Paper must be kept damp for a period of 7-10 days before sprouts will begin to grow.
You can grow the butterflies with flower and herb seeds indoors at any time of year. For best results they should be moved outside or planted outdoors in the spring after the threat of frost has passed.

Butterflies are made out of 100% post-consumer content handmade paper that is made one sheet at a time using traditional papermaking techniques. The butterflies are then individually cut out of the paper.
