In times of imbalance, a flower still blooms…
A perfect Samhain/Halloween piece, this protection amulet/scrying tool is two necklaces in one, overflowing with spiritual symbolism. Coming to you in the form of another beautiful, one-of-a-kind Imbalance Series piece, this necklace is created from five different vintage items. My best guess is that the pendant is jet, which is a type of coal (fossilized wood from the Jurassic period). I was told the pendant is quite old – easily vintage, possibly antique. On the back is an eight-petaled flower (to symbolize the Wheel of the Year) taken from a piece of antique lace. The flower's light color against the black reminds us of spiritual life/light amid the darkness as we enter the darkest days of the year. Two vintage chains are interrupted with vintage hematite, a stone for protection and grounding, and a single, floral-carved ivory bead. Imbalance exists not only in the mismatched beads, but also in the pendant's ability to slide freely between the beads. A fifth hematite stone (to complete the pentagram) is more discreetly placed at the back, next to a vintage barrel clasp. The barrel-type clasp is intentionally used here to echo the masculine/feminine aspects of life and also the sacred spiral. Pendant measures 1/2" x approx 3/4" and hangs from an approx 18" chain. Chain can be shortened by request (I prefer 16" chains myself).
