The garment is worn double wrapped around your neck and is knitted double thick for extra warmth. The patterns repeat both horizontally and vertically. The wrap has a seam at either side and one at the bottom.
I have spent some time on the Shetland Isles off the north coast of Scotland. It’s a bleak and beautiful landscape where for a time Fair Isle was the home of amazingly intricate brightly coloured knitted patterns. Ever since then I have been inspired by those Fairisle patterns. That is where the inspiration for this cowl originated.
