While looking for a book to use for this breast cancer awareness wreath, I saw the title, Letters To Susan, which reminded me of the Susan G. Komen foundation. Then, when I was putting it together, I realized I had included one page with the chapter III on it, which has special meaning to me because my sister was diagnosed with stage III breast cancer in the fall of 2006 just a month after our mom passed away. I am happy to report that my sister is a happy and healthy breast cancer survivor!!! :)
This vintage book wreath would be a unique paper sculpture for the wall in your eclectic, vintage, cottage, or shabby chic home. Another suggestion ~ In honor of breast cancer awareness, hang it in a doctor's office or clinic waiting room.
Book used: Letters to Susan (c)1936.
Main colors in this piece: Ivory, cream, pink.
This particular wreath is approximately 17" in diameter.
The centerpiece background is an old flyleaf page. On it is a sheer, picot-edged pink ribbon embellished with a vintage white button. It is surrounded by a hand-pleated, crepe paper ruffle.
A wire hanger is attached to the base on the back. This wreath can hang with the vintage ribbon, or you may remove the ribbon and hang from the wire loop in the back. The base is covered with pages from the same book. The back is finished very neatly. The wreath is signed and dated on the back, as well as having the name and date of the book used.
I don’t destroy perfectly good books as a rule, and use books that are falling apart, have pages missing, or are damaged in one way or another.
*I ship in large 18" x 18" x 6" boxes purchased specifically for the wreaths. I also use lots of cushioning materials to protect the wreath inside the box. Be sure to save your box ~ it is perfect for storing the wreath when needed. I use UPS GROUND for these packages, unless you are nearby, and then I will use USPS Priority. Insurance is included on all wreaths.
