I spent some time on the Shetland Isles off the north coast of Scotland. It’s a bleak and beautiful landscape where for a time Fair Isle was the home of amazingly intricate brightly coloured knitted patterns. Ever since then I have been inspired by those Fairisle patterns. That is where the inspiration for this scarf originated.
