This lovely piece is marked on bottom "The Sheffield Silver Company" with no other markings. I take it to mean that it is silver plate. Incredibly lovely.
Heavily tarnished with finish dulled on the inside.
Beautiful mottling on the outside reminds me of mercury glass!
Perfectly proportioned at 8" high x 8" wide from lip to handle. Sits prettily up on 4 graceful curved legs.
I have another (that I'm keeping!) that I fill with peonies in the spring, bittersweet, wheat and feathers in the fall and branches in the winter.
