Whether it's Zeus in Clash of the Titans or just someone kicking back with some black rum on a Friday night, the Kraken has long been a source of intrigue. Some say it's a giant squid and others an octopus, but most agree it's an enormous cephalopod that can destroy ships or help bring fishermen an excellent catch, depending on his proclivity. Some say the danger comes from the tentacles, which are recorded at being over 50 meters long, while others say the problem is the whirlpool created when the beast dives. Either way, the Kraken is a mystery that still haunts the ocean's depths, defying man's attempts to bring him to light.
This beast in particular is based on the octopus, a fascinating and mesmerizing creature. Octopi represent mystery, intrigue, intelligence, creativity, and illusion. The unfurling of the octopus can be seen in ancient Minoan artwork, where he represents the creation and expansion of the universe. Octopi are some of the smartest creatures in the ocean, able to unscrew jars from the inside or arrange their bodies to mimic fish, crustaceans, and squid.
