The stones are black obsidian and snowflake obsidian round beads (8mm, 6mm, and 4mm). Sterling silver 3mm round beads were included for touches of silver throughout the strand. The sterling silver spiral is 11mm.
The necklace is approximately 18 inches (45.72cm)in length. It fastens with a sterling silver lobster clasp.
Obsidian is formed when lava cools very quickly. It is a protective, centering, and grounding stone, resonating with the first chakra (the base, or root, chakra). It has been said that obsidian helps bring objectivity and dis-attachment, and absorbs and dissolves anger, criticism, and fear.

Snowflake obsidian is black obsidian with grayish-white inclusions which resemble snowflakes. It is said to promote self-confidence and self-esteem. According to Permutt, it “helps to release anger, resentment, and unhelpful behavior patterns and reduce loneliness, bringing peace of mind.” In Love Is In The Earth, Melody calls snowflake obsidian a “stone of purity” that brings “both purity and balance to the body, mind, and spirit.”
