Straps are white genuine cow hide measuring 2 1/4" wide X 52" and come up from bottom of shoe, across top of foot, cross behind ankle, back across top of foot, cross behind shoe heel and back to top of foot and tied in a large bow. See how-to video here: http://mswoodboutique.tumblr.com/page/2
Shoes are handmade by Mr. Wood and are VERY comfortable and easy to walk in despite the 5.5" platform. I can vouch for this as I cannot walk in heels but these are easy breezy.
