This is part of my “destashing” of ceramics I made quite some time ago; I made this doll for my grandmother – the one who taught me how to do ceramics – in 1989. Then I re-inherited it and it sat in storage for a number of years, and I now feel that it’s time for it to pass on to the home of a collector or someone who will treasure it. This Victorian-style figurine (although it’s large enough to make me consider calling it a statue) was painted with acrylic paints, including the antiquing, and then sprayed with a matte finish (which means it is not glossy). It should not be washed in direct water but can be cleaned or dusted using a slightly damp cloth.
Even though she has been in storage for a number of years, she is still in excellent condition.
Approximate Height: 14 inches
Approximate Width: 8 inches at base of skirt
Approximate Weight: 2.11 lbs
While I do own the majority of the molds for the ceramics I make, I did find this figurine in greenware (post-pouring, pre-firing). I cleaned her, fired her in my kiln, and then painted and finished her.
