The white dove has been the symbol of peace and hope for thousands of years. Picasso popularized doves in the 1950s. When WW2 ended, he was asked to create an image for the Peace Conference and he chose the Dove of Peace. Doves are also symbols of equality in marriage. It makes sense- peace in the bedroom and peace in the state room!
The bowl is 6" round; 7" including the dove's tails, and 2" H. The edge of the bowl is intentionally rustic. The doves, each individually hand formed, are 2" long and 1 1/4" high. They are securely and permanently perched on the rim. I also textured the bottom of the bowl in a lace pattern, accented by a permanent black oxide stain. It will be a lovely centerpiece bowl and a conversation piece that brings a lifetime of beauty and meaning.
PHOTOS: I use handmade techniques and up to 7 glazes that melt and flow in heat to achieve my pottery, and each piece is unique. The piece you receive will have the same size, shape, and glazes as the sample photo .To save the time and cost to photograph each piece, those in the images are examples of what you will receive. I will make sure yours is equally excellent.
All of my glazes are formulated for maximum durability, and this piece will be as rich and glossy 100 years from now. dishwasher, oven, and microwave safe.
