The inspiration behind this top is obvious. The colors remind me of waves, the frayed silk is like a border of sand, and the buttons and rope are bits of flotsam and jetsam. It’s fairly fitted through the body, with a high empire waist, and low cut front and back. Far from expected, the braided straps and raw edges of silk and jersey grab attention without having to scream to do so. Pearl buttons in the front add a sweet vintage twist without becoming gummy or overwrought. It’s faultless for any summer day. Especially when paired with shorts, books, and (hopefully) curling your toes in the sand.
