A beloved Red Hook, Brooklyn industrial landmark, perhaps slightly less known than the Kentile Floors sign a few miles away, it still inspires fierce loyalty among those who live beneath its shadow.

You might be saying, if this was a sign for Turano & Sons, what's that period doing to the left of the "R"? And you'd have a point. J. Turano perhaps? That's not it at all.
When John Turano bought the building in 1978, the previous business to occupy the site was paper goods manufacturer E.J. Trum, and Trum's gigantic sign occupied the frame. When Turano attempted to pull down the letters to install his own sign, the "R" wouldn't budge, and the lone "R" has been a part of Red Hook's landscape for 30 years. The sign is backwards because that's how we see it from the Red Hook waterfront.

We use sweatshop-free, preshrunk 100% premium cotton regular fit T-shirt. Hand-printed two color Red Hook screenprint designed by Live Poultry. It comes in fatigue green for women. 1x1 rib neck binding; blind-stitched sleeve and bottom hems; side-seamed; tapered waist. Wash in cold water, dry on low heat.
