What do the stampings inside the earrings mean? Someone went to the trouble to try to stamp something inside the earrings, but I can't read it.
These are special and unique pierced post earrings. They are open ovals or crescents made with silver, turquoise, coral, and onyx. The earrings are very lightweight. The earring from the bottom of the post is about 1 1/2" long. It is about 3/16" wide.
The earrings are marked with very small letters and numbers. The marks run off the edge of one earring. They are so small on the other one that they are hard for me to read. They do not look like the letters and numbers are the same on both earrings. On one it looks like the last number is a 5. It doesn't look like the number before it is a 2, as in .925 for sterling. On the other earring, there is a series of characters and then what appears to be "US."
The earrings are in excellent condition.
These earrings belong to my friend Sue. She's the one who led me astray to the estate sale of a former jewelry and antique store owner in Tucson, Arizona. These pieces came from that estate sale.
What a special pair of earrings.
Thanks for looking and buying vintage!
