I use a base of beautiful thick báinín Irish wool felt and stuff it plump full of pure new Irish wool roving. Embellishments include antique handmade Irish lace, vintage ribbons and trims, and mother of pearl buttons. Some ideas that can be used to personalise your pillow:
-- hand stamped lettering which can include your names and the date, a verse or lyric, or a sentiment in Irish gaelic
-- incorporate bits of textiles which have special meaning for you, perhaps from an old family wedding dress or uniform, or even fabric from altering your own gown
-- add a touch of colour to coordinate to your theme, using buttons or ribbon roses
