i spent my high-school years listening to a whole lot of the smiths and scratching the words to those songs in the margins of many a school notebook. lately, i've found myself compelled to spell them out in stitches and frame them within embroidery hoops.
i brought this one with me to the chicago renegade art and craft fair and overheard people remarking about it all weekend. i didn't even consider that there would be people who would see it and not know that it is a smiths quote --- but that seemed to have been okay -- i guess it's a pretty universal sentiment.
originally, i was going to do these pieces in traditional cross-stitch fonts and make them look like old samplers, but with these quirky lyrics where the usual ABC123 and bible quotes would be --- but i've opted to use this more casual hand-writing style font instead -- i like the mix of the traditional cross-stitch craft done in this kinda modern-feeling style.
currently, these are being stitched to order - so you've got some options: choose from background colors of: black, white, medium grey, light pale blue-grey, or oatmeal. stitching can be any color you want. please indicate color choice in "notes to seller" section of the order form. if no color is indicated, i'll do white stitching on black, as in main listing photo. (this is the most popular color combo.)
the finished piece is framed within a 9.25" wooden embroidery hoop. (the black-stitching-on-white one in the photographs is framed within a slightly smaller hoop.) it is ready to hang on the wall as-is. or you can prop it on a ledge or a shelf among other collectibles or all on its own.
please note: because this is stitched to order, please allow up to two weeks turn-around time before i ship it out. (but i'm usually able to get orders completed and out the door much faster than that.) if timing is a concern, email me and i will let you know exactly how quickly i can get it out for you.
