Who's Alphonse Capone?
One of America's most infamous gangsters, Capone was involved with bootlegging and other activities during the Prohibition Era of the 1920s-1930s.
This print was inspired by a comparison between Capone's Chicago and present day Chicago. The print features Capone in black in the foreground set against a colorful background which includes a historic picture of the Lexington Hotel(Capone's headquarters), and a modern day Chicago transit map with the Cicero stop highlighted in red. While Capone's bootlegging activities caused many to consider him a criminal; his words show that deep down he considered himself a businessman providing a needed service.
