Paper Quilled Nativity Scene - Starter Set
This superbly handcrafted Nativity scene is made entirely from paper using a technique called quilling. Quilling, or paper filigree, is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs. During the Renaissance, French and Italian nuns and monks used quilling to decorate book covers and religious items. Today, quilling is seeing a resurgence in popularity. Two dimensional quilling is used to decorate wedding invitations, birth announcements, greeting cards, scrapbook pages, and boxes. Three dimensional quilling is used to create whimsical scenes and delicate free-standing figures like those pictured in this Nativity scene.
Although the nativity is entirely made of paper it is very sturdy. Each figure is glued inside for stability. I still have my original nativity that I made 6 years ago and it looks like I made it yesterday. My original nativity does not just sit on my shelf either...I take it to shows and craft fairs and it gets packed up, picked up and handled a lot.

The Nativity scene includes the following pieces:
1 Manger – approximately 6 ½” wide x 3 ¾” tall with Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus fixed in place
3 Shepherds, 3 Wise men, and 1 Angel – freestanding
Figures range from 1 ½” to 2 ½” in height. As all items are made by hand no two nativity scenes are the same and therefore, there could be slight differences to what is shown in the picture.
This item will be shipped via Canada Post Standard mail which is quoted to take 7-14 business days.
