I felt like going back in time to my "bear makin' roots" so-to-speak! I started making mohair teddy bears nearly 20 years ago and have sort of left that realm of bear making to work on my miniature primitive style bears instead but today I finally finished my first large mohair bear in years!
This is Annie! Annie is a sweet little bear who is ready to join your Hug!
She is approximately 16 inches, made from beautiful dense long pile golden mohair and has brown velveteen paws. Annie is stuffed firmly with a healthy mixture of excelsior(wood wool), vintage upholstery stuffing and polyfill. She's fully jointed with hardboard discs and cotterpins in the old fashion method and even has a wobble jointed neck to give her that charming floppy appeal we all love so much in a teddy bear.
Little Annie has the most wonderful antique boot button eyes (the real deal!)which give her the most endearing expression and a beautiful embroidered Perle cotton nose.
Now, for a bit of a surprise! Annie has a vintage wind-up music box enclosed inside of her! The wind-up key can be found on her back. Wind it up carefully and you will hear the beautiful, yet haunting "Laura's Theme" from the classic movie "Dr. Shivago".
My little bear will go to her new home wearing a vintage cotton baby dress/slip with a sweet little bell around her neck, a beautiful soft blue silk ribbon around her head and she's going to be holding on tight to her adorable pink feathered bird ornament...something she hopes to be able to put on her own Christmas tree someday.
