THE STORY
"When the great lakes were home to the wolverine and the wild porcupine, before the fur traders were exploring Midwestern creeks in birch bark canoes, the trees stood tall and dense around those great waters. These wooden totems lived for several hundred years and when they fell cities like Chicago and Milwaukee were constructed with their stout timbers. Plucked from the forest floor and hauled into bustling thoroughfares behind mule carts, over cobblestone into the age of industry, these great beams helped build the foundation of the world we now know. When these cities expand, they often leave behind these beautiful wooden souvenirs, which is where we come in. We take these posts, whose grains have seen the coming of the modern railroad and have outlived the great Chicago fire, and we give them a new life as heirloom works of art.
