Recycled wine corks wired together into a durable beautiful doormat. This doormat measures 29 x 20 1/2 inches and is made up of 284 corks. Each cork has had two holes drilled into it and they are laced together tightly with galvanized steel wire. Remember those old durable doormats made from strips of recycled tires? That was my inspiration for this design. I inserted metal grommets into the corks along the end of each row so the wire can not cut into the cork. The corks come from all over the world. I collect wine corks whenever I go wine tasting. I also ask at restaurants if they have any corks they were going to throw away that I could have. This could be used indoors or out. I have one of these doormats on my front porch and it has weathered three winters so far with no signs of deterioration. The basket weave pattern is beautiful!. This would be a great gift for anyone who loves wine. It also could be hung on a wall and used as a large bulletin board.
