This mobile is 100% hand-cut, and hand-assembled (and all scraps are reused in my husbands architecture models). The four tear-drop pieces are white museum board on one side, and unstained basswood on the other held together with safe, non-toxic glue. A twice-bent notch in the middle layer of museum board firmly holds the metal wire and ensures a wonderfully clean and secure joint.
The mobile is held by a strong monofilament which is pre-tied with a small metal ring that allows hanging length to adjust from about 20" to 40" (the line can be made to custom lengths as well.) A hook is also included for hanging... the one shown has worked well for us, but we might change to something less heavy duty.
As always, be cautious if hanging directly over the crib: make sure the mobile is secure and completely out of reach!
This item is hand-made to order (and it is pretty labor-intensive), so please allow us 2-3 WEEKS to get it in the mail.
P.S. This mobile is not just for babies... It would be great in any space (we have one hanging in our living room and love it!) Also, the mobile may be customized (price may vary): the white museum board may be changed to bass wood like the other side, or it could have a printed pattern of some sort... we have yet to explore the possibilities so just convo me with ideas!
