This antique German watering can is a wonderful example of early 20th century European design. Made by B.A.T. of East Germany, it is heavy-duty and functional, and was designed with the gardener in mind. The large capacity, oval shape, crossover handle, and spout mounted at the bottom made for effortless watering of gardens. In addition, the top opening was designed for easy side filling. The large spout head or “rosebud” is removable.
It measures 29” long (spout to handle) x 17” tall (to top of handle). The makers mark is embossed on the top “BAT” in a circle with a bat along with the “10 TGL.” The is a band of old blue paint around the base.
