I crocheted it into a continuous long strand than folded over a bunch of time which gave it 16 shorter strands that make up the necklace. I then crocheted ties onto each end.
You can tie it up like a necklace or a choker. Can even be wound around your wrist to make a pretty bracelet. Heck, you can tie it around your head like a headband too.;)

Each tie measures about 6" long.
