The Heart Sutra, a Buddhist scripture, says form is emptiness, emptiness is form. The Summerized Gemetrica Collection are also both empty and form. They play with the idea of reality: Are they drawings of jewelry, or are they jewelry? They are talismans that hold space. They are semiotic gems.
Summerized jewelry designs are literally printed. They’re created in CAD 3d software, and realized using Selective Laser Sintering, a 3d printing technology. With SLS, a print head emits material (nylon, metal or other amalgams) and builds complex objects one layer at a time.
The dangly diamond earrings look gorgeous on – elegant and bold. The lines are more delicate in person than the photograph can convey, and the earrings are extremely lightweight. There’s a beautiful interplay of line, pattern and moiré as the diamonds turn gently on the chain.
