This is an original crochet pattern of my design to make your own miniature Chewbacca. At only 4.5" tall, he is a bit more manageable than a full-size Wookiee and will make a great toy or a guardian for your desk. He comes with instructions to make his bandolier and bag, so he is always fully dressed!
The pattern is fairly straightforward and suitable for beginner/intermediate crocheters. The instructions are detailed and easy to follow if you know the basic stitches and techniques used to make amigurumi. His furry look is achieved by brushing the yarn with a wire pet brush - the two different versions of Chewbacca shown in the photos shows the effect of brushing different types of yarn.

To make Chewbacca you will need you will need the following amounts of yarn, double knitting (dk) weight*:
35g brown variegated yarn. This yarn should preferably include a rust colour and a dark grey. It can be a mohair type, but wool and acrylic should be fine.
Small amount silver grey yarn.
Small amount rust brown yarn.
Small amount black yarn.
*You can substitute worsted weight yarn, but the amounts may be slightly more.
You will also need:
Stuffing.
1 pair 7.5 mm black or blue safety eyes.
Wire pet brush.
Tapestry needle.
3.5mm hook (US E hook).
