--------
Fostoria Glass Co. made the Monroe pattern for a few short years in the 1950s and ‘60s. This lovely milk glass footed bowl, or compote, is an example from this line. The deeply scrolled border and domed foot form the perfect display for fruit or baked goods.
Measures 6 1/4 inches high, 9 5/8 inches diameter overall, about 5 3/4 inches of useable space at the center, 6 inches diameter of foot. Unmarked.
Overall condition is good, with no chips or repairs. A few light scratches on the top of the plate, with variations in the glass. There appears to be a crack in the top surface, though it does not go all the way through the glass (not visible from the reverse in strong light). The piece is perfectly stable, but I have reduced the price because of this. The foot has a few dark spots on the glass--please see detail image.
I also have a cake stand in this pattern. For other milk glass in my shop, click here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/BarkingSandsVintage?section_id=7329999
