Obviously, I bought the whole box.
Fast forward a few months, I've been sharing a studio with Marc Simard of www.broundoor.etsy.com for awhile, watching him work with leather every day, and it hits me...I need to combine these buckles with leather! I wanted to give this version of the "Battle" necklace a really severe look, so I used glass curved spike beads, and mixed in this AMAZING marbled looking leather that I salvaged from a vintage jacket.
Marc ended up helping me out with figuring out the best way to attach the leather to the buckles (metal studs, applied with his press) and the design developed from there with the addition of the glass spikes and chain. The design is finished off with a chunky chain at the neck, a lobster clasp closure and a small wooden logo charm at the back neck.
All the leather in this design is offcut and recycled leather (scrap leather from the footwear and furniture industries, or recycled from vintage clothing/bags). More colour combos are in my shop!
Since the main component of this design is vintage deadstock buckles, this design will be made in limited quantities, and cannot be made in gold tone since I only have the silver tone available to me.
