The paint used in this design is permanently heat set for durability and non-toxic. I recommend hand washing with non-abrasive materials to preserve the vibrant color over time. The mugs are micowave safe without the lid on. The lids are made from flexible silicone and are dishwasher safe. Paint contains no toxic ingredients and conforms to ASTM D-4236
