This etching has been made on a copper plate as a mirror image and printed by means of an etching press using a process that has changed little since Rembrandt’s day 400 years ago. The copper plate has also been treated with an aquatint which gives the etching that special quality, seen at the bottom of the image.
Every etching is inked by hand and is thus an unique and original artwork.
It has been printed on Somerset Velvet handmade paper from St Cuthbert’s Mill in the UK using high quality professional etching ink. The paper has a soft cream color.
The etching measures 9 x 6 cm (3.5” x 2.4”) and comes with a mat (mount) that's the same color as the paper measuring 13 x 18 cm (5" x 7").
It has an edition of 75 and is signed and numbered. A leaflet will also be enclosed explaining how the etching was made.
