At my local farmers market I have yet to meet anyone who doesn't like this scent. It usually elicits an "oooooh" when people smell it. And, with its mix of sunny citrus and warming spice, it's a perfect scent for chilly mornings.
Like all my soaps, Ginger Orange is made in small batches using the cold process method. It's extremely gentle, with about 50% olive oil. I also use enough organic palm oil to make a hard, long-lasting bar; enough coconut oil to lather but not enough to be drying; organic shea butter for emollience; and a bit of castor oil to really boost the lather.
My palm oil is organic out of concern for the orangutans who are rapidly losing their rain forest habitat to palm plantations.
I never use synthetic fragrances, only essential oils, absolutes, resins or floral waxes. I color my soaps with clays, herbs and other botanicals. For Ginger Orange, I infused my oils with annatto seeds, then added a swirl of red clay before I poured it into the mold.
Ginger Orange bars weigh approximately 5 ounces.
