Home cheesemaking is easy, it's cost effective and it's fun. Wow right? The supplies included allow you to make cheese at least 10 times- the thermometer (retails for $7-$12) and special cheesecloth are re-usable beyond that. Come back to refill your rennet tablets etc. and you're back in business!

The Deluxe Cheese Kit is all of the cheese kits in this shop rolled into one. Like most bulk purchases, it is more economical. It is the ultimate starter kit and an amazing housewarming gift.
Note that you even get a thermometer for successful cheesemaking!
Your DIY Mozzarella & Ricotta Cheese Kit Includes:
Instruction Booklet
Fine Cheesecloth
Food-Safe Thermometer
Vegetarian Rennet Tablets
Citric Acid
Cheese salt
Just add a gallon of milk and in one hour you will be eating and sharing your very own fresh mozzarella or ricotta!
As I mentioned, each kit makes 10 batches of cheese (a batch is about 1 1/2-2 lb. depending on whole or low-fat milk, or mozz vs. ricotta) so you have plenty of supplies to experiment with different herbs, shapes and recipes.
These make great gifts by the way and they are shelf stable for at least 6 months at normal room temp (keep away from heat and moisture)- freeze the rennet tablets right away and they will be active for at least another 1-2 years. Avoid holiday rushes and buy before we start running out!

A little about milk:
You do not need raw milk to make cheese although it works great with these kits. You can use regular pasteurized milk from the grocery store as long as it is not ultra pasteurized or ultra-heat pasteurized. Even some of the large organic brands now do this to milk. Its only benefit is a long shelf life. Find a milk that you like and works, then stick with it. Oh and, this kit works with goat's milk too. You can also use lowfat milk or nonfat milk (yield and creaminess will be noticeably different with nonfat).
