These knitting mitten blockers are made out of acrylic cut-offs from a local plastic manufacturing company - GO GREEN :-)
They taper at the cuff to allow your ribbing to block without stretching. Also included in the separate blockers for thumbs are WPI (sett) gauges... I knew you'd like that!
Since these are made out of acrylic you will never have to worry about warping or splintering.

Blockers are made from 1/8" (4mm) thick acrylic
