This little hat, known as a “fascinator” in millinery circles, does just that - it fascinates. It irresistibly catches the eye and holds the admirer’s attention because it is unexpected, delightful, and charming.
You may be wondering how this lovely rose, nestled a bed of vintage green velvet leaves, stays in place? It sits perfectly well behaved and comfortably on the head thanks to a length of thin hat elastic. It acts much like a headband that fits behind the hair at the back of the neck, the rose itself nestles in your hair, a bit to the side and slightly forward. So comfortable to wear you can just forget about it and enjoy the attention.
The silk velvet is hand dyed a luscious deep red berry, or fuschia with rose pink tones. There are 10 small dark green leaves, 5 on either side of the rose that are made from vintage Victorian velvet ribbon.
Measurements: entire piece from leaf to leaf is approximately 7 inches by 4 1/2 inches. The flower itself is 4 3/4 inches by 4 inches.
Entirely sewn by hand.
