The Chordoma Foundation describes chordoma as "a primary malignant bone cancer that develops from remnants of embryonic notochord in the skull-base (head) and spine." There is currently no cure for Chordoma but there are several promising advances that are being researched and must be funded to do so. There is dated research that suggests that the average life expectancy for this disease is 7 years, however ther are patients that live with it for decades. Chordoma patients are hopeful people with no expiration date.
I apologize to chordoma patients for the rather limiting and clinical nature of the desciption but it is the only way I know how to introduce this very rare disease to people who may not know about it.
Chordoma has touched the family of one of my friends. It is our mission to raise awareness and money for this disease in order to develop a successful treatment, if not a cure.
