This is my first try at making a paper-mache deer. I think it came out pretty cute! He is life-size (based on a taxidermy deer form I found at a garage sale) and covered in a gorgeous chocolate and blue cherry blossom pattern handmade Nepalese paper. He has huge, expressive ears and somewhat Dr. Suess antlers. Overall, he is a whimsical fellow who seems quite expressive in spite of having no eyes. He is super light, as the paper-mache is foam filled. He has an O-ring in back for hanging, and seems just fine on a thumb tack.

This would be adorable in a child's room, or hanging above your mantle (Please note that deer is made of paper, and therefore is flammable. Place sensibly.)


Because this was my first try, his surface is not as even as I would have liked (see detail photo), and his antlers are not quite as realistic as I wanted. Therefore he is going cheap- I will be making and posting more of these in the coming weeks, but none at this price!
