From the back and belly to the internal blocks and the scroll - even the bridge, tailpiece and pegs - every single component of a violin is precisely drawn and dimensioned in this amazingly compact delineation of a turn-of-the-century violin maker's plans.
The original of this meticulously detailed drawing was in poor condition when I acquired it. It had been folded several times and had significant soiling and losses along the folds, as well as general deterioration of the paper. I cleaned it as much as possible and made a high resolution digital image of the drawing, then digitally restored the damage and losses, sometimes working with only a few pixels at a time. When I finally finished the restoration, I isolated and lifted the lines of the drawing and created two versions as art prints - one as a blueprint and one with the appearance of an old pen drawing on handmade paper. This listing is for the antique pen drawing version.
The print is 11" x 14" and is printed on heavy semi-matte paper with archival inks. There is ample border to allow for frame overlap - I've included a photo of the print as it would look in a standard 11 x 14 frame (the frame is for illustration only and is not included with the print).
This fascinating print would be the perfect gift for any violinist, classical music enthusiast, fiddle player - or anyone with an interest in music and musical instruments.
It will be shipped flat in a manila envelope with a sheet of foamcore to prevent bending or folding by the postal gorillas. (This protective stiffener can be reused as a backing when you frame the print.) And of course, the watermark in the Etsy photo will not be on the actual print.
If you would like to order more than one print, convo me and I'll make a special listing for you.
Orders for up to 6 prints will be shipped for the same price but will include only one sheet of foamcore protective stiffener. If you want a foamcore sheet for each photo, please convo me for a shipping quote and I will create a special listing for you. For orders of more than 6 prints (one for everyone in the orchestra?) convo me for a quantity discount price and shipping cost.
NOTE: Alas, postage has gone up a bit. The clowns who run Canada Post have decided to eliminate ground service for small packages - now everything has to go airmail. Consequently the shipping cost for the print is now $7.50 (actual postage is $8.80, but I'm rounding it down and covering the difference).
