This vase in the real thing -- very vintage, and made by the reknowned Bauer Pottery factory in California. The base measures 3 inches by 4-5/8 inches and the imprint there says "Bauer Pottery - Los Angeles". It is the softest matte-finish goldenrod color, more soft and lovely than the photos can show you. It measures a nice 6-1/2 inches high and about 6-7/8 inches at the widest point. The ends have three fluted ridges or ripples, and the sides have seven ripples. There is one tiny (about 1/8") chip on the top at the back side, which can be seen in one of the photos. The opening at the top is a generous flared 3 inches by 4-3/4 inches -- perfect for a really nice bunch of colorful flowers. This is really a gorgeous Art Deco period vase!

When I originally acquired this vase, I loved it because of its wonderful design and fluted details. It had been painted many times over the years - seafoam green, dark green, bright red and, finally, topped with a final spray of gold paint. Many long hours of gently removing these layers revealed a gorgeous goldenrod-colored vase, full of life and charm.

The story I was told about the vase was these vases were custom-made by Bauer Pottery especially for THE COCONUT GROVE! -- a very famous night club, dance hall and restaurant on Los Angeles' Miracle Mile. Its previous owner worked as a waitress there, and was allowed to take several of these when the Grove finally closed its doors forever. I'm happy I discovered this gorgeous vase and was able to bring it back to its original outstanding beauty.
