My process is to find in the curled locks of raw wool--kind of like how you see shapes in clouds--images that match my vision. (re: the Oceanic concept of "Imunu.") I made a few attempts at Cthulhu when I was just beginning, but this piece is the culmination of a process and an aesthetic I've worked extremely hard at perfecting.
If the price seems steep, please consider: This is a truly powerful and original piece, highly detailed, and solid wool. The wings have NO WIRE in them at all: their shape is held through a meticulous, hand-cramping 15-hours-apiece sculpting of soft merino wool--tufts of raw wool I found IN THAT SHAPE already, just made densely solid and detailed through thousands upon thousands of stabs of a felting needle.
This is one of the most ambitious piece I've ever done. I know that there's someone out there who will appreciate this Cthulhu. I've looked at everything I could find in this genre, and I sincerely believe there is nothing quite like this out there. It is a special creation for a special collector.
