I grew these Daneborg poppies last spring, and have many watercolor sketches of them waiting to become etchings. This is the first. For some reason the etching of the tonal areas (aquatint) was particularly vexing, and this copper plate went into the acid etching bath over 26 times (each time with new work done on it) until it was satisfactory. Some pieces are like that, whereas others may undergo only 10 process steps.

Image size: 5 x 5 inches
Paper size: 7.5 x 11 inches

This piece is shipped unframed, and will fit well into an 11” x 14”, or even a 12 x 16” frame for a dramatic effect.
