In my early 20s, I used to drive past this lake every day to and from work. It was on the back way to Orlando, past the orange groves and some cool old homes in Florida. I'd stop on occasion with whatever camera I had with me. This day was different than the others: there was someone on the dock. He lived adjacent to the dock in an old swamp style Florida shack. He let me photograph him for what has become one of my favorite photographs captured at Lake Apopka on film: Serenity.
