Winter Peppergrass (the light in your eyes)
This is a mixed media painting I've been working on for a while. It's gone through a lot of changes and I love how the remnants of different stages show through. The image is one of a weed called peppergrass. It's an image I've used several times...just enthralled with it's form I guess. Lately the winter sun has been shining in my studio at such a low bright angle. It is entirely different from the summer sunshine. This artwork is a way for me to capture that oblique cool light.
12" square acrylic and mixed media on gessoed masonite with raised wooden circles on it. I've used paper from a vintage children's encyclopedia as well as maps and a typing manual.
